Sir Ian Byatt

Sir Ian Byatt was Director General of the Office of Water Services (Ofwat) between 1989 and 2000, where he was responsible for independent economic regulation of the water companies in England and Wales. From 1978 to 1989 he served in HM Treasury as Deputy Chief Economic Adviser. Since 2000 he has advised the World Bank and governments around the world on matters relating to the water industry. Today he is Chairman of the Water Industry Commission for Scotland.

Quentin Tannock – on Renewable Energy and Water Treatment Integration

Quentin Tannock, and FES Advisory Board Member, is Chairman and co-founder of CambridgeIP – a leading source of technology intelligence across the intellectual property landscape. CambridgeIP is

also a parent company of Boliven, a database of over 100 million documents and other data sources. Quentin will outline recent developments in renewable energy and water treatment R&D. Quentin will also provide detail on technology owners and trends together with the key drivers of – and options for –  renewable energy / water treatment integration.


Mark Powell

Mark leads the Power & Utility Team within KPMG’s UK Performance and Technology business. Mark was a lead contributor to KPMG’s recent report The Future of the UK’s Energy and Water industries which found clear appetite for change in the UK water sector.
